1. What should I pay attention to
- Add 3 mm bleed
-
- keyboard_arrow_rightDue to the cutting margin, you must supply an extra cutting border, also known as a bleed, of 2-3 mm all around. Make sure that background colors, images and the layout continue to the edges, so that no white edges are created after cutting. You can provide the file with crop marks, but we prefer a file without these marks, so you get perfect print quality.
- Keep a safety margin of 5 mm
-
- keyboard_arrow_rightKeep all important texts and images at least 5 mm from the edge of your design, after printing 3 mm bleed is cut off. We cut your printing with the most modern and computer-controlled machines, yet a small deviation can occur, so keep a safe distance from the edge. This way no important information will be cut off.
- Provide a resolution of 300dpi
-
- keyboard_arrow_rightThe resolution used depends on the format of your work. Usually offset and digital printing is printed in a resolution of 300 dpi. So use the correct resolution from the start. For posters from A1 you can choose a lower dpi value. For example, billboards and road posters are usually printed at 75 dpi. Always import the files at the correct resolution. Avoid enlarging images, or converting them to a higher dpi value, this will result in a blurry image! Reducing is of course no problem. Do not use images from the internet, they have only 72 dpi and are usually only a few cm in size, when enlarging the known cubes effect occurs.
- Use CMYK as the color mode
-
- keyboard_arrow_rightUse CMYK color mode, not RGB. Colors on your screen are made up of RGB (Red, Green and Blue). In addition, your screen is a light source, colors are brighter and can look different. Print is made up of CMYK colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black). The conditions for displaying colors are very different between your screen and print. Also, when converting rgb to cmyk, a change in color may occur. The color profile FOGRA39 (ISO Coated v2) can be used for coated papers and for uncoated papers FOGRA47 (PSO Uncoated ISO12647). Be careful with Registration Black Color, this is a black where each color consists of 100% and is only used for registration marks. DO NOT use them in your layout to be printed. The sum of all colors must not exceed 300%! If they do, it will result in stains and will glue all sheets together.
- Sent us your files in a print-ready format
-
- keyboard_arrow_rightTo ensure that your order can be produced quick, efficient and cheap, we can only work with a number of fixed file formats. These file formats ensure that your file can be processed easily by us. The print-ready file formats can be supplied as PDF (1.3 or higher), TIFF (1 layer), EPS or JPG. NOTE: No Word or Excel documents! If you are not able to deliver these ready-for-print files yourself, you can always use our design service
- Enclose or convert your fonts into letter outlines
-
- keyboard_arrow_rightMake sure that fonts are converted to letter outlines or embedded when exporting to a PDF file. It is no exception that a certain font in your layout is not present in the print shop archive. Vectorizing is converting to line art. A line drawing has no pixelation, so no loss of detail and can be infinitely enlarged. Bitmap images (JPG and TIFF) are made up of pixels and cannot be enlarged without loss of quality. A line drawing is made up of points connected with lines. When you move a point, the line automatically moves along. For example, a vector image can be enlarged indefinitely without loss of quality. It also offers the possibility to size a large format print on a scale of 1/10.
- Provide a minimum font size of 6 pt
-
- keyboard_arrow_rightThe minimum font size we recommend is 6pt. This way you ensure that letters are readable on the end result.
- Use the correct values for a solid surface color black
-
- keyboard_arrow_rightThere are many different types of black; including the Rich Black. Black is not just all colors at 100%, but a correct mix. Black is not only K: 100%, this is Anthracite black (pencil gray). Use for deep black C: 35% M: 35% Y: 35% K: 100%, for warm black C: 0% M: 60% Y: 30% K: 100% and for cold black C: 60% M: 0% Y: 0% K: 100%. This is only possible in full color printing. We recommend 100% black for text smaller than 15pt only.
- Make sure the ink coverage does not exceed 300%
-
- keyboard_arrow_rightThe maximum ink coverage is calculated from the sum of the individual color channels CMYK: C + M + Y + K. The maximum color coverage must be respected and must not exceed 300%, because at higher values the dry-time of the inks used is not sufficient and will result in stains on the back of the next page. Moreover, the pages can even stick together during drying. We recommend that you do not use an ink coverage higher than 280%.
- Provide a minimum line thickness of 0.25pt
-
- keyboard_arrow_rightThe minimum line thickness is 0.25pt, this is a dark line on a light background. Negative lines (light lines on a dark background) should be at least 0.5 pt thick. By following the minimum line thickness, the lines are clearly visible on the end result.
- Check your design for transparencies/overprint
-
- keyboard_arrow_rightMake sure there are no parts put on overprint unless this is intended. How transparency appears depends on the ink/toner, the paper and the printing technique.
